Al Sadu Society runs a variety of textile workshops designed for kids to learn and further develop their creative skills in a relaxed and stimulating environment. Children between the ages of 7 and 13 are introduced to the beauty of textile arts in all its forms; traditional and contemporary.

Our program has been running for more than 10 years and consists of workshops and a 12-week course (Junior School of Textiles.)

Goals:

  • To stimulate the child’s creativity, imagination, and self-expression.

  • To encourage the child’s manual and mental dexterity.

  • To inspire children to explore the textile arts.

Workshops:

The Workshops are conducted twice a month, on Saturdays, at Sadu House during our cultural season that lasts from September to May. Each workshop has a maximum of twelve children taught by two instructors and volunteers to ensure a high level of attention to each child. Our instructors are teachers and artists who are experienced in passing on their skills and knowledge to children in an engaging manner. Our workshops are a pleasurable and enriching way for your children to spend their Saturdays and return home with new learnt skills and artwork.

Junior School of Textiles:

For a more intensive look into Art and Textiles, join our Fun with Textiles Course – 12 -week session (12 consecutive Saturdays).

Students will be able to gain the knowledge and confidence individually throughout the first 10 sessions, which will help them with the skills needed to work on a joint group project in the last 2 sessions.

The course has two seasons, the first season start from September until December, while the second season starts from January until March. To celebrate the children’s artwork and hard work, the Fun with Textiles course holds an annual Exhibition at the end of the Spring course that showcases the children’s work.

Most of the textile art techniques and crafts are suitable for children between 7 and 13 years of age.

During the past years, we have successfully conducted our workshops in Hawally Governate Middle schools, Kuwait Scientific Centre, Australian College of Kuwait and Al Shaheed park.
